I Killed Everyone is one of those bands that have made a lot, and I do mean a lot, of progress to their sound. Which is something that will make them blow up in the deathcore genre. To me, it sounds like I Killed Everyone wants to change up the deathcore genre a little bit. They could very well do so with the way they’re progressing their sound on everything they release. Their sound is very tasty, if you ask me. They definitely provide the type of music to mosh to, and destroy some vases in your mother’s room… I mean if you want to be that brutal kid down the road… Anyways, A few songs that stand out on this album would have to be, “ A Sanguinary Mass”, “The Devourer Beyond”, “Necrospire”, “Crucified And Consumed”, and “The Human Error”. “A Sanguinary Mass” starts off the album on a rather heavy, and brutal note. It really shows I Killed Everyone’s progression, and how they've changed lyrically, musically; the big main two for a growing band. I’d be lying if I said I wasn't a fan of bands that improve on every album. Every song they write is better than the last song, and there is definitely something about I Killed Everyone that just sticks out, that doesn't with other bands in the genre. This may be a good thing to some, maybe a bad thing to others, and maybe to some they just won’t care, as long as the music is good. I Killed Everyone may very well be the game changer for this genre, and I’m not afraid to admit that if they are, I’d be glad that it was them, and not some other band. “The Devourer Beyond”, shows the power behind I Killed Everyone, vocally, at the start of the song. This is something great, honestly this is the song I was talking about, the song you’d break your mom’s vases too, and the song that would be the one you mosh to in your room, and out in the pit at the venue. I guess that being said, it may get a few people to quickly listen to the song. I don’t see why people wouldn't? That was the best description for the song that I could have thought of. That makes me want to replay the song, a few more times honestly. “Necrospire”, oh my, the title track to this devastatingly heavy album, of pure deathcore! Now, this song isn't only the title track, but one of the heaviest songs on the album. That only makes sense right? It’s the title track, why not make it the heaviest song on the album? That was probably the exact thought of the band, when recording this song. The song is definitely a crowd pleaser, and I could see this getting played during the middle of the bands sets, which isn't a bad thing. It only makes it better, I’d love to see this song being played live. “Crucified And Consumed”, wins the award for having one of the best song titles on the album, and one that makes it sound brutal when you read it. Then when you actually listen to it, it’s even more brutal than you thought. I stand by the quote “I Killed Everyone writes a song, and writes a song that’s better than that, then a song better than that song.” because every song on this album is better than the song before that song. It’s definitely something that makes them look a lot better, and shows that they’re a band that’s about progressing, and solely about progressing in their musical careers. “The Human Error”, is another good song title. I’d like to point out the fact that humans make a lot of errors, and not liking this song could be considered an error (Jokes aside). This song is pretty brutal, and there’s nothing, and I do mean nothing soft about it, literally. There isn’t a soft spot on this song. Guitars, drums, vocals, and even the bass, is maxed out with brutality to end off this album, on a solid heavy note. I’d be lying if I said I didn't over-enjoy this album. There was so much progression on this release, it was new to hear. I've been a fan of I Killed Everyone since their demos got on YouTube. Nothing, and I do mean nothing, they've done has been bad in anyway. Everything has been spot on, and an improvement in their sound and style. I am stoked for their next release to come out. Whenever they record another one, I will be stalking their bandpage for updates, and everything!
Breakdown:
Screams: There are two different type of vocals on this, growls, and just screams with different ranges. High, and low, and mid highs. Mix all those together, and you have a heaviness bound to happen. I Killed Everyone’s vocalist is no amateur when it comes to his vocal cords. He knows how to use them, and when to make his vocals to sound like what. There’s nothing out of place with his vocals, and wherever his vocals are, they are never out of place, and they fit perfectly with the band’s sound. Which is really impressive if you ask me. I’m hoping that on the next release that the vocals improve a little bit to give the band a full on brutal sound. I’m not saying they don’t have one now, but maybe they can go above, and beyond in their futures.
Instruments: Everything on this album, bass, guitar, drumming, and vocals, have been maxed out to the full brutality that they could be. The guitars riffs are insanely brutal, and are somewhat different from the deathcore genre. Some parts sound a bit like the ones you’d hear in death metal. Yes, I Killed Everyone could be considered both deathcore, and deathmetal. I feel as if they fit the deathcore genre a bit better than deathmetal. The drumming on this album, packs more than a punch if you ask me. It’s like a nuclear explosion, bound to happen. That’s how heavy it is. As for the bass player, the wee parts that you can hear him, are a bit heavy, which is something that I considered never hearing since you don’t really give the bass player much exposure. But I’m glad he got the bit he did on this.
