Resurrection - The Social Contract

Posted by Unknown On Thursday, February 28, 2013

Genre: Metalcore
For Fans Of: Parkway drive, In Flames, As I Lay Dying

The debut single from "Resurrection Chad Ruhlig is doing guest vocals on this song, Chad doesn't fail neither does Resurrection for a debut single they came into the scene with a huge bang and should thank chad for helping them come with that bang. The screamers style is pretty different from chad’s which is kind of cool, two different screamers with two different styles on a song best of both worlds. The song sound like it’s about the government more songs like this have been popping up lately. My only complaint is the producing seems to lack a little bit, mainly because it’s not necessarily clear the song is still good, just the lacks in production. The guitars sound kind of repeated same riff/fret over and over with minor changes. I can definitely see this band getting signed and becoming a bigger than they already are now they have everything they need to be the next big metalcore band. They have an album coming out in march, hopefully the album is produced a bit better if not I’ll still give it a chance, kind of waiting to see what the album will sound like compared to this song for all I know there could be more guest vocalists on the album. This song was a real joy to listen to, just hoping the album next single/album are produced a little differently than this one if there ends up being another single.
 Breakdown:
Screams: Only type of vocals in this song are screams, pretty much were the production lacks too, the screams aren’t really clear and chads vocals seem turned down a little bit. But the vocals are okay and chads vocals… he killed it.
Instruments: Pretty heavy, some god sounding breakdowns in this song and the guitars at the breakdowns change up a few times.

Demi Lovato - Heart Attack

Posted by Unknown On Wednesday, February 27, 2013

Genre: Pop
For Fans Of:  Miley Cyrus, Selena Gomez & the Scene, Jonas Brothers

Demi Lovato releases a new single "Heart Attack" now not being much of a Demi Lovato fan and not a fan of her work at all... Her vocals were actually pretty enjoy-able and this song was actually pretty good, it does have it's repeated choruses and it's little electronic edits and love story lyrics. One reason that lead me to write this is because disturbed liked and favorite this song on youtube, so i was like "aw why not, I’ll give her a chance" and this made me want to listen to it again.. It was kind of predictable to know what's coming up and when the chorus is coming up, Demi is extremely talented for a female and being only 20 years old. I'm actually pretty happy for Demi, I’m pretty sure she's been singing since she was 14? And always wanted to be something big in the music business and here she is today. Signed to Hollywood records and making enjoy-able music to some people, i have to say from older stuff Demi’s done this is probably one of the best. This song would make a teenage girl go crazy at one of her shows Demi has a bright future ahead of her and a highly successful career in front of her.
Breakdown:
Cleans: Demi’s vocals are different from most female vocalists in pop she has a unique voice and one that’s not really annoying.
Instruments: Eh, the sounds you can hear in this song are decent, pretty sure the guitarist knows what he’s doing very well.

For Fans Of: Panic at the Disco, The Academy Is.. Cobra Starship

Well after a  four year hiatus, Fall Out Boy comes back and is starting to write/record a new album. This happens to be the first single off the album, I was never really a huge fan of fall out boy, thnks fr the memrs was golden though probably the one song by them i listened to over and over again no problem, never got old either. They did make a music video for this song very quickly, guess who the featuring person... two chainz is, this guy is everywhere i swear. He does some good acting though, i have to admit that.. Back onto the original review though... This song wasn't that bad in full honesty but after a four year hiatus I’d want to come back with a huge bang, this wasn't a huge bang but it was some type of a bang. The song is amazingly structured though and the lyrics are great and the flow of everything is perfect, definitely a radio hit for sure. The little female vocal part Is annoying to, kind of don’t get the point of it but it’s a great addition to the song, just kind of annoying. Listening to this kind of makes me wonder what the new album will sound like I’m hoping it’s something like the old stuff but new in a sense. Fall Out Boy has a lot of talent and they do show it… I’m just hoping they keep showing it and press to new heights with this album and make it the best they’ve ever written or will ever write. I have high hopes for this album, I want it to make everyone that was a fan from 07 stay a fan and of course have new fans.

Breakdown:
Cleans: Their vocalist didn’t lose his vocal talents. if anything he got better than he was before his vocal range is something to listen too.
Instruments: I’m not too much of a fan of pop instruments, but the guitars sound pretty good.

Suffocation - Pinnacle Of Bedlam

Track list:
01. Cycles Of Suffering
02. Purgatorial Punishment

04. As Grace Descends
05. Sullen Days
06. Pinnacle Of Bedlam
07. My Demise
08. Inversion
09. Rapture Of Revocation
10. Beginning Of Sorrow

Genre: Death Metal
For Fans Of: Cannibal Corpse, Rings Of Saturn, Morbid Angel

Suffocation has been out for years and has never put out anything not worth listening too or anything horrible. Pinnacle Of Bedlam has to be one of my favorite releases by them so far. I actually got talk to talk to Terence, Guy, Frank and they all were telling me how much effort and time went into this album to make it something truly amazing. I'd have to say in just 5 minutes of listening to this album, they did just that. The riffs are something else on this album and frank's vocals are just, impressive when they did "As Grace Descends" live (for the first time) it sounded brutally amazing and it sort of sounds just like how it does in the studio, that being said this album is definitely  something worth checking out and listening too. A few songs that really stick out on this album are Purgatorial Punishment, As Grace Descends, My Demise, and Inversion. My demise sticks out because the vocal flow the little stops frank does really is something different in death metal and kind of make the song seem different from the rest of songs on the album, lyrically the song is something to listen too as-well. One thing that’s really interesting about this album is within the first few seconds you listen to the first song it gets really heavy in no time. This album is something worth listening to if you’re big into death metal, Suffocation is definitely part of the death metal gods, nice guys, great music.
Breakdown:
Screams: Frank’s vocals are something else, he has a lot of talent how he sounds in the studio, and he sounds live which is relatively new and different for vocalists. His vocal stops in my demise bring more feelings into the song.
Instruments: Heavy drumming, really good guitar riffs, what else could you want? I have to say though Terence really did do something else with the riffs on this album and the solos he does are brutally amazing.

Genre: Metalcore
For Fans Of: Asking Alexandria, Capture The Crown, Bring Me The Horizon

Two bands one song.. I honestly don't think that's ever been done in metalcore before. Definitely worth checking out though, i was impressed HIGHLY with this song, the high screams blew me away, I wasn’t expecting vocals to get that high or even a band being able to do it. The whole two bands thing has me wondering who came up with this idea and were they sure it was going to work? It obviously did and they came up with something worth listening too and something that possibly hasn’t been done before in this genre/scene of music and it could happen again I’d like to see more bands try this it’s definitely something new and different and the sound of two bands coming together as one. The vocals though sound pretty great the clean vocals and screams are definitely something worth listening too and a great pair together. I honestly had my doubts about this song working at first then hearing it totally changed everything. I think it’ll be interesting to hear this live, if that ever happens I mean. Skarlett was always good in my opinion I think this is set on famous first real song to be released. I’m hoping their first actual single is brilliant and blows me away like this song did.
Breakdown:
Cleans: The little cleans are highly enjoy-able no doubt about that.
Screams: Wow, the screamers range is something else the high vocals... let’s just say I wasn’t expecting them at all.
Instruments: I’m pretty sure there’s a double bass on this song, kind of sounds like it, the producing is sketchy to be honest, but still great to listen to.

Genre: Acoustic
For Fans Of: Set It Off, Artists. Vs Poet, Before You Exit.

That's Outrageous! posted on their facebook awhile back about making an acoustic EP, but they released this acoustic of Obliviate in the meantime. Not going to say an acoustic ep would have been a bad idea, it'd be sweet to hear those songs played acoustically some of them are brilliant and i would personally love to hear them in acoustic form. Obliviate was one of my favorite songs from that’s Outrageous! for the longest time and hearing this acoustic is probably the tops they need to be my one of the bands i listen to on the daily. The vocalists voice sounds kind of poppy, but fits the song’s lyrics really well. The vocal tone/style fits perfectly on the song. This kind of has me thinking what a whole EP with acoustics will sound like? I'd end up hoping all the songs sound as good as this song did. I don't really like acoustic covers of bands original songs but this could have been done first as an acoustic then released as post-hardcore song that would have worked a bit better in my opinion, but this is still good. The vocalist is highly talented in doing acoustics for sure.
Breakdown:
Cleans: The vocalist really sounds like he knows what he’s doing well to make this song come alive. Maybe one of the best acoustic songs I've heard too.
Instruments: Mainly only an acoustic guitar sounds pretty good.

That's Outrageous! - Psycho

2. Return To Woodsboro
3. Pretty Little Liars
4. Obliviate
5. Vyvanse Trance
6. Paging Patrick Batman
7. Flatliners
8. Home Invasion 101
9. Stranger Danger

11. The New York Chainsaw Massacre Pt. 2
12. Straight To Voicemail

Genre: Post-hardcore
For Fans Of:  I See Stars, Everyone Dies In Utah, Lions!Tigers!Bears!

After a bit of drama and issues That's Outrageous! managed to put out another album, this album was probably better than the last one in a lot of ways. The sound changed up a bit they have some poppy choruses and some dubstep in their sound now. I guess they take two really okay things to make them into something great and more worth listening too. Psycho is one of those albums that is really good and sounds amazing, but it does have its flaws. The only really big flaw i can tell it has is the electronic parts sometimes don't match the song at all and could have sounded different, other than that the album is something to be head. One thing that really caught my attention are the lyrics, some of the lyrics are truly hateful and some are lovey dovey, not saying it's a bad thing because it's not, kind of gives you the best of both worlds. A few songs that stick out on this album, Pretty Little Liars, Fatliners, Home Invasions 101, The New York Chainsaw Massacre Pt. 2. Home Invasions 101 caught my attention because of the lyrics I thought they were funny in a way they were meant. Flatliners brought back the famous phrase this band should be famous for "sluts like you make me sick" on this album it's "SLUTS LIKE YOU STILL MAKE ME SICK" the lyrics following that line are just, so cruel, but so good at the time. I would like to see this band get bigger than they already are they have what it takes to make it.
Breakdown:
Cleans: The clean vocals are a real joy to listen too. His vocal range is definitely a nice fit with the poppy choruses and makes the song seem more alive to the listener.
Screams: The screamer has a few different styles that makes them different, when he’s screaming hateful/cruel lyrics you can hear it in his vocal tone its clear.
Instruments: They have dirty-dubstep, guitars, bass, drums, what else could you need to make it big? The dubstep presence is enjoyable on the songs you hear it, sometimes it doesn’t necessarily fit the song, but it makes the songs worth listening too.

First release from That's Outrageous let's just for a first release this goes hard, literally. One thing about That's Outrageous that's really good is the electronic parts they use in their music, it really shows off their music and how they're going to sound, now their sound might not be different/new but it's definitely worth listening to. Believe it or not but Austin Carlile is the guest vocalist on "The New York Chainsaw Massacre" his vocals are a bit different what you'd hear on a song by his band, they sound more mad/angry, but they do fit the song and the band’s sound. A few songs that stick out on this album are, Teenage Scream, Is it 2012 yet? New York Chainsaw Massacre, RE: Why I Killed My Girlfriend and What Happens In Azeroth Stays In Azeroth. The song RE: Why I Killed My Girlfriend has the catchy phrase "Sluts like you make me sick" in the breakdown, and it just so happens to be my favorite song on this album because of the lyrics, from what I’ve heard/read the lyrics could be/are about his ex-picking her world over theirs, who doesn't love a good break up song? The song What Happens In Azeroth Stays In Azeroth sticks out because there's more clean vocals on it then screams, kind of gives you the best of both worlds for the vocalists. There's a lot to like about this album and probably a few things to dislike about the album, the only thing i really disliked is that star69 was short, too short for it's good-being. This band’s sound might sound like everything else that comes out nowadays but this is definitely worth listening too and I highly recommend it.
Breakdown:
Cleans: The clean vocalist definitely has a style of his own and you see his vocal talents on every song on the album for sure, but the most on “Star69” and “What Happens in Azeroth Stays In Azeroth”.
Scream: The screamer has some vocal edits to his vocals, you can kind of hear it but it makes his vocals seem more like a thrill to listen too.
Instruments: The songs vary, could be soft, heavy or a mixture of both, the heaviest song on the album is “The New York Chainsaw Massacre” softest has to be “What Happens In Azeroth Stays In Azeroth. Other than that the guitar, bass, drums, electronics, are well worth listening too.

Genre: Metal
For Fans Of:  Iron Maiden, Machine Head, Suffocation

Korotory is one of those bands that has been making music since the 90's and still is sort of small. This just happens to be one of their newest albums to come out.  I'd have to say I’m glad this band didn't give up on making music, usually a band that's been out since the 1990 would have stopped making music because they didn't get anywhere yet. I'm really glad this band didn't do that. This album was a real joy to listen to, sort of glad true metal bands still exist today. The vocals sound weird though, might just be how they’re recorded but still very exciting to listen to. The flow of the instruments is very metal-like too plus the little “demon” type of vocals was brilliant. A few songs that are worth listening too on this album are, Spineless, Probing The Nether, Dehumanization, Rise. In all honesty I have to say Dehumanization stood out the most on this album because of its lyrics, the lyrics kind of explain today’s youth/media  I think that’s what they’re trying to explain how everything is about facebook/twitter and today’s trends and how it’s making the human race seem more like robots, that’s just what I’m thinking from listening to the lyrics with that being said Dehumanization is probably one of my favorite songs on this album. This album is well worth the money you’ll be spending on it.
Breakdown:
Screams:  I’m going to go ahead and say the vocals are screams/growl, this definitely reminds me of old metal bands  vocal wise, there’s a few songs with a demon type  vocal style which was really neat to listen too kind of made the songs more interesting to listen too.
Instruments: Nothing soft on this album, just like old time metal-bands all heavy and full power, I have to say the guitar riffs/drumming is my favorite thing on this album along with the vocals of course.

Sleepless In December - Living In Sequence

Posted by Unknown On Sunday, February 24, 2013

Genre: Experimental
For Fans Of: Design The Skyline, The Bunny The Bear, ExtraLargeKids!

Ethan White (EX design the skyline bassist) and Matt Ryan (Still in design the skyline... I think?).

Ethan's cleans were always something worth listening too in design the skyline, for whatever reason he got kicked out is and always will be beyond me, Matt is doing scream vocals in Sleepless In December. His screams kind of give that design the skyline feeling. I have to admit i really did enjoy this song because of the screams sound different then you'd usually hear. Matt and Ethan are definitely great pair of vocalist that has a sound that makes originality come alive in their music. This band has a lot of talent in just one I wonder what a whole EP could show. The clean vocals mixed with the screams stand out more than anything in the band honestly.  The flow of everything is another thing that sticks out but not more than the vocals, but the vocals and instruments stay close to each other. The drumming is spot on though besides the vocals I have to say the drummer caught my attention, certain parts with the drumming really didn't match the song but sounded really good. The guitars riffs are okay not to impressive but make a great flow with the vocals. The electronic parts are pretty sweet though something that stuck out too mainly because they’re at the end more than the start of the song.
Breakdown:
Cleans: Ethan’s clean vocals are just amazing, his style is something different and great, talented in-deed.
Screams: Matt’s scream surprised me in all honesty I didn't expect his screams to sound so good. His vocals impressed me, truly impressive vocal style and new and worth every second you’ll be listening to them.
Instruments: Kind of sound like every other metalcore band, but the flow they have is something great and worth the listen.

For fans of: Gamma Pulse, Bruised But Not Broken, InDirections

This album never officially got released, sadly! This album would have been one of those albums that turned so many heads. This band was great while they lasted. I would have bought this album in a heartbeat. This band had everything, great music structure, great vocals, great drumming, great guitar, great bass, great sound and a sound that is worth listening too over and over again. One of the main things is they sound sort of like Born Of Osiris mixed with miss may i, but they have their own sound they only have some parts that sort of sound like those two. Lyrically this band is something to listen too, the lyrics are just great. The vocals defiantly show the emotions trying to be given out. The vocalists are talented and they clearly show every ounce of their talents. A few songs that really stick out, Picture Perfect, The Decline, Oceans apart, Death Wish, Deal With It, Deal With It and Death Wish are the two hate focused songs, and the lyrics express the hate message the song is trying to give out. The decline sticks out because the emotion, it's more of a "i miss you" type thing and the vocalist clearly shows that emotion, the vocal tone and lyrics match up so well in this song/interlude it's just too perfect. One thing this band really had was something a lot of bands lack, expressing the emotion they're trying to give out in every song, this band does that just perfectly. It really does suck that this band never really got to release this album it would have been a hit and probably the next big thing to come out in the scene today. I must say, i seriously want this band to make a come-back and write another album or just a song. There are just no words to describe how much talent was in this band they sounded different and something that was worth listening to over and over again without ever getting old or tiring. This band could have seriously turned some heads in their career, not a single doubt about that.
Breakdown:
Cleans: The clean vocalist definitely has a new style for his clean vocals that made the band stick out. The range differs for sure from high to low.
Screams: The screamer goes hard, literally. His screams are loud and his style is different, he honestly sounds pissed off when he screams and when he has the "sad" type of screams they're just louder. One talented screamer and this once again would have turned so many heads.
Instruments: The instruments in a way sound sort of like Born Of Osiris and Miss May I. There are a few breakdowns in songs and mini-breakdowns. This band is a mixture of soft and heavy, but everything flows together really well. A few songs have places where it doesn't flow correctly or sound right, other than that there's little mistakes.

Farewell, My Love - Mirror Mirror

Posted by Unknown On Saturday, February 23, 2013

Genre: Theatrical Rock
For Fans Of: Modern Day Escape, Write This Down, City In Peril

New EP from Farewell, my love, they have a new vocalist named Ryan the last vocalist had some issues/problems so left, in a way yes Ryan does kind of change the sound of the band, but in a good way. He sounds like the old vocalist in a few ways but his vocal range is definitely different. The band still kept the original sound though, no one can copy this band and if they did, it really wouldn't sound the same or come close to Farewell, my love.

"Mirror Mirror"
First song it shows Ryan's vocals and how his vocal's sort of influences the new sound of Farewell, my love. If anything I’d have to say this song vocally is one of the best on the ep there's just nothing wrong with this song.
Breakdown:
Cleans: Ryan isn't like the old vocalist in anyway style/form wise his vocals are different and very talented. It kind of fits the band a little better than the last singer, not saying the last singer was bad, he was pretty awesome as well.
Instruments: One thing that doesn't change much in Farewell, my love the instruments seem pretty fast and they speed up to make the song go a little faster.

"My Perfect Thing"
The intro is different but highly enjoyable, sort of sounds like Ryan has a complete different range in this song. This song lyrically kind of sounds like a love song, guess the title and lyrics match up pretty well then.
Cleans: Ryan's vocals sound a bit different than the last song, like a whole different range of vocals.
Instruments: Sounds a bit soft, still has that speed flow to it though.

"Skip The Memories"
This song kind of makes me think of something All Time Low would write lyrically and at the intro kind of gives that feeling in a way. This is a great song none the less, Ryan's vocals are higher in this song.
Breakdown:
Clean: Ryan's range changes again... Sort of. His vocals are a bit higher than they were in the other 2 songs, another favorite vocal wise.
Instruments: The drumming sounds fast in this song, well faster than the guitars from what i can hear.

"It's My Life"
Wow, i really haven't seen many bon jovi covers but the ones i have seen are not anything compared to this one, It's spot on and Ryan's vocals somewhat match up to bon jovi's he tries get them as close as possible and you can tell that, he does a good job it's not 100% but it doesn't have too be. It's a great cover none the less! Instruments are spot on though.
Breakdown:
Cleans: Ryan definitely tries to get his vocals as close to bon's as he can, now of course he's not going to be 100% on the vocals because his range is a bit different. The background vocals are a great addition as well.
Instruments: The instruments are pretty spot on, they have that bon jovi feel to them also.

"Just Another Soul (Acoustic)"
This is the acoustic version of this song, it was the last song on the first ep. This sounds okay, probably my least favorite song because it was on the last ep and Ryan's vocals kind of make it sound different and I’m not a huge fan of the acoustic songs, that's just me though.
Breakdown:
Cleans: Ryan's vocals just don't compare to the old vocalist on this song. I enjoy his vocal range highly both of them, but just something about Ryan singing this song doesn't feel right.
Instrument: Acoustically this song is decent with the guitar, I’m sure if it was a raw guitar it'd sound different and maybe somewhat better in a sense, not a huge fan of acoustics being recorded through studio.

Farewell, My Love - A Dance You Won't Forget

Posted by Unknown On Thursday, February 21, 2013

Track list:
1. A Dance You Won't Forget
2. Wrong & Right
3. The Glamour
4. The Hardest Hearts
5. Portraits
6.  Just Another Soul

Genre: Theatrical Rock
For Fans Of: Modern Day Escape, Write This Down, City In Peril

This is one of those bands that stick out with their vocalist, highly talented knows what he's doing and sounds really good while doing it. This band’s sound is pretty new and original. If you're looking for something new this is something I’d highly recommend.

"A Dance You Won't Forget"
First song on this ep. It clearly shows how the band sounds and the difference between them and other bands in the genre and the vocal talent from the vocalist.
Breakdown:
Cleans: The vocalist is highly talented and clearly shows it in this song and on almost every song on this EP.
Instruments: Theatrical rock has that great sound too it, it's new, different, worth the listen.

"Wrong & Right"
This is one of the songs that kind of sticks out with the vocalist because his vocals start off pretty high, the flow of this song is my favorite.
Breakdown:
Clean: The vocal shows more of his talent with his cleans getting higher than they did in the last song.
Instrument:  This song sounds a little bit heavier than the first. This song sticks out a little bit.

"The Glamour"
The intro to this song is pretty nice, i did the guitars for sure, the flow of this song is brilliant. The structuring of the songs is pretty amazing also.
Cleans: The vocals are definitely impressive on every song on this ep. The style changes and varies in every song though. One of the most talented vocalist to date.
Instruments: The guitar at the intro is pretty interesting to listen too. This song has some good riffs and it’s fast-ish

"The Hardest Heart"
This song has screams! Score right? The mixture of vocals on this song makes it one of the best on the ep and the one song that stands out in every way, my recommendation is to listen to this song first.
Cleans: Cleans mixed with screams, the clean vocals still take over the song and match up with the screams in a few places.
Screams: One of the only songs with screams, the style of the screams.. no word can explain how great they are.
Instruments: This song is pretty fast, heavy, and soft, all three of those it only really slows after the scream breakdown then it speeds up again.

"Portraits"
Lyrically and musically, this is my favorite song on this ep by a long shot, there's really nothing i dislike about this song. The tone is well in the vocals and matches up with the feeling of the lyrics. This is another that song that sort of sticks out with the vocals.
Breakdown:
Cleans: Vocal tone and lyrics match up, the vocal tone matches the emotion/feelings the lyrics are trying to give out. Vocally this song is amazing.
Instruments: Just like every other song on this ep, it sounds heavy for the genre, but it's heavy and soft, the flow is seriously really nice.

"Just Another Soul"
Last song to finish off this wonderful ep. This is another song i really enjoy because of the lyrics and the vocals.
Cleans: The vocals are highly impressive on almost every song on this ep, seriously one of the most talented vocalist.
Instruments: Fast and heavy (for the genre)

Illuminations - Dead City

Posted by Unknown On Wednesday, February 20, 2013

Genre: Deathcore
For Fans Of: In Dying Arms, I Declare War, Defiler

Maryland death-core!
I have to say this band is one of my favorites from Maryland (My Area) their vocalist impresses me a lot, at a few times in this song it brought a feeling of a horror movie / sifi horror movie. The lyrics definitely bring that feeling also. The flow to this song is pretty neat. The vocals stand out the style is something that really makes this song more interesting to listen too. I'm kind of curious what this song is about and the meaning behind it, I’m pretty sure this could be a song in a movie one day if they ever let deathcore be in movies, the day that happens I’ll be hoping to hear this song. The over-all thing about Illuminations they have a sound, they have a genre and they do combine it together to make something great and something new in their own way. When the little ending speech comes in you hear the vocalist talk (or maybe it’s a scene from a movie or something) I thought that was something that was new to have and gives a little bit more of a feeling to the song. Oh and another thing with the vocals, the vocalist uses 2 different styles it sounds like to give even more of a feeling to the song. I’ll have to admit I did enjoy this song (I enjoy almost everything thing this band puts out, but that’s beyond the point)
Breakdown:
Screams: Two different styles of screams, lows and highs! The vocalist has his own style for both which gives the song that vibe of horror.
Instruments: It kind of sounds a soft for a deathcore song, but it has some heavy parts to it, as I said Illuminations has their own sound and they fit it with their genre.

I did a review on their other most recent song "Fire Inside" featuring Joe Demaio (Casino Madrid) that song made me a huge fan instantly. I have to say this band has some really great music the intro to this song was unique in a few different ways. This is one of those local bands that have a huge amount of talent that labels will never look at until they have a huge fan base, this band's fan base should be bigger than it already is i agree with that highly. The vocal style of both the clean and screamer are just unique and different it makes you want to listen to more music by them, the vocal stick out with everything you just don't expect the style from a band. The lyrics are a great thing also the guitar on this song caught my attention as well as the vocals.  Honestly, if you want a band that’s original, new, different this is definitely the band you’re looking for they keep the metal influence in their music and they have their own sound to go with it. I’m really hoping this band gets their break sooner or later, hopefully they get picked up by a big label and release albums every year.  I wouldn't mind hearing more music from this band as long as they kept the originality they have now.
Breakdown:
Cleans: The clean vocals are definitely different and new, something to listen too closely.
Screams: The screamers style, there literally is no words for it just shocks you because the style is so new and different.
Instruments: Post-hardcore and metal influences you can hear it easily. This song is in sense of being heavy, no softness what so ever.

Genre: OPERA META
For Fans Of: Nightwish, Avantasia, Therion

Well first off this album is in German not English at all (Good thing i took German a class in school) Even if you really can't understand the lyrics or what's being said the music itself clams and relaxes you. I've really never listened to opera metal but this band makes me wish i did this album is so calm and relaxing the female vocalist is talented and has that type of voice, you won't find often but when you do you realize how great female vocalists are.  I think this band should get noticed and get bigger in their home land they're definitely talented enough to do so. A few tracks that stand out  Sternennacht (Starry Night), Alptraum (Nightmare), Spiegelsee (Mirror Lake). Alptraum (Nightmare) is by far my favorite song on this album mainly because of the vocal style she speeds up with the instruments which make it sound different and worth the listen.  As I've said I've never really listened to opera metal but the music style and the feeling this album gives off makes me want to search for more bands like this and listen. The only huge problem with this album is the fact it’s not in English.
Breakdown:
Cleans: Only clean style vocals on this album and her opera high vocals. For a female vocalist I must say she’s highly talented (it’ll go un-noticed sadly) but she is one of the best female vocalists I've heard and how she stays with the instruments with her high opera vocals is something purely amazing.
Instruments: A lot of different sounds from this band, it’s mostly soft on every song though, some songs will speed up and get heavy but in the end the song will be soft.

Youth In Revolt - Die Young (cover)

Posted by Unknown On Tuesday, February 19, 2013

Genre: Post-Hardcore
For Fans Of: Asking Alexandria, Capture The Crown, Crown The Empire

Let's give it up for bands that make Ke$ha covers and make them sound sexy. I haven't listened to the original song yet, but listening to this I do not really think i want too. One thing that kind of stands out a bit is the vocals. The vocals have different effects on them to make them sound better and make it more like a pop cover I’m guessing. This band makes the song more interesting to listen to. Let's be honest here, Ke$ha is okay but the covers of her songs are brilliant and better then the originals most of the time. I kind of got this band’s sound figured out from listening to this song over and over again, i kind of hope they surprises me with a single that sounds a bit different then what I’m expecting from them. The techno parts throughout the song are pretty good. The screams stand out the most though, there's a few different vocal effects attached to them which really isn't a bad thing. This cover stands out in a few different ways, yes there are a lot of Ke$ha cover songs but in a way this one stands out, vocally, instrumentally. I can honestly say I’m pretty excited for an official release from Youth In Revolt.
Breakdown:
Cleans: The clean vocalist is spot on and has an original sound to his vocals is something worth listening too.
Screams: The screams have some effects added on them, not really a bad thing but it makes it more worth listening too.
Instruments: This song sounds like a post-hardcore song with some techno elements it’s heavy and soft at the same time. I could judge more on the instruments when an official single comes out.

Device - Vilify

Posted by Unknown On

Genre: Industrial
For Fans Of: Disturbed, Nine Inch Nails, Filter

David Draiman new band DEVICE's first song "Vilify". Being a huge fan of disturbed i wanted to check this single out. I've seen tons of people saying it sounds like disturbed. I'll have to disagree but i can see where they're coming from, the vocals sound like disturbed but the guitar and the lyrics really don’t cut the cake on being similar. This song though it's pretty soft i think kind of surprised me i was expecting it to be heavy and metal. The lyrics though are so... Vulgar, But this is a great single to release built up some hype for the first album from device. The guitar riffs caught my attention first sort of gives me that disturbed feel, but not there completely. The vocal tone matches the lyrics a little bit but not fully. I’m actually excited for this album I’ve always been a fan of David’s vocals and disturbed I’m kind of hoping it gives that disturbed feel but not fully, something different but feels like disturbed in a way. The lyrics same as this song maybe a bit more vulgar, the lyrics kind of sound pissed off just without the vocal tone backing it up.
Breakdown:
Cleans: David’s always been a good vocalist and I must say I do enjoy his vocals on this song, I’m hoping maybe he tries to keep the vocal style he had in disturbed while changing it up a bit.
Instruments: Pretty soft, wasn’t really expecting it. Great flow to it though.

6.The New Belief
7.Social Parasite

10.Scream For Me
11.The Leaders
12.Breaking Strength Of Mind

Genre: Thrash
For Fans Of: Encefalo,  Sacred Mother Tongue, The Force

Well to start this album you hear a great guitar riff followed by the vocalist. This is one of the first thrash bands I've really took the time into listening too, I'm impressed highly. The guitar riffs are definitely something different and great. The drumming as-well, can't forget the drums! The vocals are mostly screams the way the vocalist does his vocals is pretty sweet. A few songs that really stand out, Captured. Down, Scream For Me. Captured i must say for a thrash band they picked the track listing out really good, captured was a great intro song to start off this album and Breaking Strength Of Mind was a great outro. This is in all senses thrash metal at its finest. The news audio clip in "Captured" was pretty neat kind of built more of a feel to the song. I kind of like the fact the songs range differently in length from 3 minutes to 6 minutes, pure metal vibe in every minute. I've probably listened to this album over 10 times so far. It’s one of those albums you can’t get tired of. The vocalist, the instruments, the flow of the songs were done perfectly, this is one thrash album I highly do enjoy. I’m hoping to get more from this band in the future!
Breakdown:
Screams: I’m going to call them screams because that’s what I’m used to. The vocals are something to listen too, in a way they sound like a demon or someone really angry at their ex-wife.
Instruments: The guitars sounded brutal, the drumming sounded brutal, and everything sounded brutal. I love the flow of everything in this song they all go together great nothing misses the flow of the song they stick with it so well.

A Deadly Wish - Drowning Away

Posted by Unknown On

Genre: Metalcore
For Fans Of: IMMORAL, God Forbid, Atreyu

Third and most recent single from A Deadly Wish, the last single was soft a little bit then they write another song that's all heavy. No clean vocals in this song, boo right? The scream and instruments pure metal, the vocals sound tone down a bit and the guitars toned up. This song is pretty nice makes me stoked for their full length coming sometime in spring? (I think). I enjoy the drumming in this along with the guitar riffs. The guitar riffs are something worth listening too. The vocals hit home as well as the instruments heavy bass, heavy guitar riffs, heavy drumming! I have to admit I kind of do miss the clean vocals and the little bit of soft parts it kind of made it sound more worth the while to listen too but surely enough without the cleans and soft parts this song and band still rule, the music structuring sounds somewhat the same as the older stuff mixed in with some different parts. There are parts in the song that sound like older stuff just different in style and form. This band has written some really good stuff to listen too. I hope to listen to the new full length when it’s released.
Breakdown:
Screams: Mostly screams missing, those clean vocals. The screamers style is flawless though.
Instruments: Nothing soft about this song, all heavy and pure metal.

A Deadly Wish - Kill Off The Fears

Posted by Unknown On

Genre: Metalcore
For Fans Of: IMMORAL, God Forbid, Atreyu

Second single from A Deadly Wish, this song kind of reminds me of motionless in white's demo tape the vocals and the quality sounds just like a song from the demo. There are more clean vocals in this song than a lot of the older stuff also a bit better with the recording on this song. This song is different than the other songs in a lot of ways, clean vocals more often, screams less, music structuring is different, and lyrics are a bit different. This song is definitely how the band should look at the rest of their music. Not trying to say their older stuff was bad in anyway, the older stuff ruled but this sound kind of sounds better than that, either way this band rules. I must say the clean vocal parts are seriously really catchy along with the little breakdowns in the song. The drumming is louder in this song along with the other instruments in the other songs it seemed like that vocals were the loudest, but on here it sounds like everything sounds the same. This song is one of my top 10 for a local/unsigned band for sure. I’ve had this song on repeat for a good while now, can’t wait for more songs from these guys.
Breakdown:
Cleans: Well there are a lot more clean vocals in this song than in anything they’ve put out a bit catchier than the rest too, one of the best songs from them with clean vocals.
Screams: Less screams then in older stuff, but I guess you can there’s an even mix of cleans/screams in this song.
Instruments: This song kind of sounds softer than the rest of the songs, still a great song none the less.
