This is Cinema Sleep’s first album, and man I’d be lying if I said they didn't do well on this release! Their songs aren't only catchy, but quite clever with their lyrics. Which gives them a huge plus, and a reason to listen to them. I honestly fell in love with this album during the very first listen through it. This band just proves rock and roll isn't dead, and that it’s still a good genre to listen to. This band could have probably made it back in the 80’s if they came out, because their sound somewhat fits that time period. Nowadays people want bands with breakdowns, and hateful lyrics. I’m not going to lie. I do love that type of music as well, but I do love rock and roll, and soft bands, like Cinema Sleep. Rock and roll was a genre I grew up with, along with post grunge. Those two genres are the genres I grew up with and had to listen to in my dad’s car on every trip we took. It makes me happy to see a band like Cinema Sleep making their dreams into a reality, even though their genre isn't listened too much anymore. The genre is still strong, and I do have faith in Cinema Sleep to make it big, and get some radio time. They have everything you needs to be on the radio now a days, catchy lyrics, a good sound, and they're not to vulgar with their lyrics. A few songs that kind of stood out on this album would be "Wildcard", "Dead Poet’s Society", "Misprint", "Matadora", and "Right Where You Belong". "Wildcard" was a really good start for this album. It wasn't too heavy, or too soft; it was just perfect, and it didn't take them long to get into the song, and get right to the point of their music. "Wildcard" has this rock sound, and some really good lyrics to compliment the song. My only complaint about the song is that it’s not as long as it should be. I’d definitely give this song an extra minute or a few more seconds. The song has some really catchy lyrics, if I might add to that. By listening to this song about a few times, I can honestly say this would be the song people sing to at a show the loudest, and the best. Mostly because the lyrics are simple, and can easily be remembered. "Misprint" is the albums depressed sounding kind of song. It starts off depressive with the instrument play, and then gets its happiness farther into the song. The lyrics still make this song sound sad, in a way.  This is what most rock and roll bands do, they’d have one song that’d be ballad, the ballad is usually a sad song about a female, or something in the bands life, and this is just what Cinema Sleep did. The lyrics kind of make this song into being about the vocalist’s path to be in a band, and make it big in his musical career. You can hear this pretty well in this song, and you can tell he really wants this to happen in his future. I do believe that Cinema Sleep has what it takes to be a big band, if they keep releasing music that sound like this. "Matadora" starts off really heavy, which makes this song one of the songs that stand out the most. "Collapse" does too, but not on the scale of "Matadora" in my opinion. The lyrics to "Matadora" are probably some of my favorite lyrics on the whole album, and I have to say I really do love the guitar play on this song. Those riffs are pretty interesting to listen to. Well honestly, almost every song has some really interesting instrument play, and that’s definitely something this band is good at. "Right Where You Belong" is the last song on this amazing piece of music. "Right Where You Belong" seems like a song that was wrote to a loved one to telling them that they’re right where they belong, and farther in the song it sounds like the vocalist is giving advice to tell the loved one, that the world is cruel and he’s looking at him for her, and that she’s right where she belongs. Cinema Sleeps does some really amazing work on this album, and I really do think people could love this album if they give it a chance, and a few listens too. There’s nothing you can really hate about it, if you like rock and roll. There are a few places that could use improvement, but hey you can’t always be perfect. It just makes you want to try for another release, and another after that. I only want Cinema Sleep to fix their sound a little bit, to add even more of that rock feeling to it. They do a good job right now, but I feel like they could add just a little bit more feeling to their music. Cinema Sleep is definitely trying to redefine rock and roll though for the better, and make this genre come alive again!
Breakdown:
Cleans: The clean vocals have this perfect sound to them. They’re new, and they fit really well. You can definitely tell right away that they’re a rock and roll band. I have to say that I really do enjoy the clean vocals in this band. They’re new, and different to listen to, and something that’s not really used a lot in bands today. Another good thing this band does with their vocals is add the extra emotion to make their songs sound better, and get the cool, relative feeling with the listener. It seems a lot of bands do that now, but Cinema Sleep does it pretty well, and on every song they write, it seems.
Instruments: Wow… That’s all I’m going to really say about the instrument play. The guitar play on some songs is just outstanding, and phenomenal to listen to.  I think little bands in the rock and roll genre could take some notes from Cinema Sleep’s guitarist. Along with guitar play, there is some drum play on this album that is truly outstanding and really something to listen to! This band does the real deal with their instruments, and make their music really enjoyable for people to listen to!
